MAM DESSERT PLATE Shigaraki ware plate
This is a plate made of Shigaraki ware, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, produced in Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Its warm texture, full of the "scent of earth," is a great charm not found in other ceramics. Shigaraki ware has many types of glazes, and it conveys the aesthetic of wabi-sabi as an art woven from earth and fire. To make the earthy texture look more beautiful, a glossy, glass-like glaze is used on the surface, and the rim is given a matte finish. As it is a two-tone color, the color of the accumulated part where the colors meet makes for an interesting plate. Please understand that there are individual differences in how the colors appear. We have prepared a dish plate (23cm) sized to hold toast and salad, and a dessert plate (17cm) perfectly sized for cakes and sweets.

| Precautions | ・Before use, check for cracks or breaks, wash with a soft sponge containing dish soap, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely before use. ・Avoid soaking. This can cause water to seep in and lead to cracking. ・After washing, dry thoroughly before storing. This can cause mold to grow. ・Due to the nature of ceramics, there may be individual differences in crazing, color unevenness, color shading, and firing irregularities. Please understand this before use. ・Can be used in microwave ovens and dishwashers. ・Cannot be used over direct heat. ■About individual differences These items are shaped, colored, and fired by hand. Therefore, no two ceramic pieces are exactly alike. Color unevenness, variations in color, protrusions, black dots... these are all unique characteristics of handmade ceramics and contribute to their charm. The following are characteristics of ceramic products and are not defects, so please keep this in mind. ・Color Since each piece is glazed by hand, there may be slight variations and unevenness in color. Also, colors can change significantly depending on firing conditions, and even with the same glaze color, there may be variations in the finished color and crazing, so the color may differ slightly from the photo. ・Holes and protrusions Glazed pottery may have small holes or protrusions. These are called pinholes, and they are a phenomenon where air remaining in the body or organic matter (such as dust) when the glaze is applied remains as small holes after firing. This is a characteristic phenomenon of ceramics. ・Black dots Black dots may be seen on the surface of the vessel. This is iron powder, where iron contained in the pottery clay oxidizes when fired in the kiln, appearing as black dots on the surface of the vessel. |
