Product Description This plate is made of Shigaraki ware, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, produced in Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Its warm texture, full of "earthy scent," is a major charm not found in other pottery. Shigaraki ware boasts a wide variety of glazes, and as an art form woven from earth and fire, it conveys the aesthetic of wabi-sabi to this day. To highlight the beautiful earthy feel, a glossy, glass-like glaze is used on the front, while the rim is finished with a matte texture. Being two-toned, the color where the two tones meet creates an interesting effect on the plate. Please understand that there are individual differences in how the colors appear. We offer a dish plate (23cm) sized to hold toast and salad, and a dessert plate (17cm) perfectly sized for cakes and sweets.

■About individual differences
These items are shaped, colored, and fired by hand. Therefore, no two ceramic pieces are exactly alike. Color variations, unevenness, protrusions, black spots... these are precisely what make handmade ceramics unique and contribute to the texture of the vessel. The following are characteristics of ceramic products and are not defects, so please keep this in mind.
・Color
Since glaze is applied by hand to each piece, there will be some color variation and unevenness. Also, conditions during firing can cause various changes, and even when using the same colored glaze, there may be variations in the fired color and crazing, so the actual color may differ slightly from the photo.
・Holes and protrusions
Small holes or protrusions may be observed on glazed vessels. These are called pinholes, and are a phenomenon where air remaining in the body or organic matter (such as dust) when the glaze is applied, remains as small holes after firing. This is a characteristic phenomenon of ceramics.
・Black spots
Black spots may be seen on the surface of the vessel. This is due to iron contained in the clay oxidizing when fired in the kiln, appearing as black spots on the surface of the vessel.
